CT - Pelvis
CT – Pelvis is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses computed tomography (CT) to obtain detailed cross-sectional images of the pelvic region. This includes the pelvic bones, urinary bladder, reproductive organs (uterus, ovaries, prostate), rectum, and surrounding soft tissues.
The scan may be performed with or without contrast dye depending on the clinical requirement. Contrast material helps enhance visualization of blood vessels, organs, and abnormal tissues, improving diagnostic accuracy.
CT Pelvis is commonly used to evaluate trauma, tumors, infections, inflammatory conditions, and structural abnormalities. It is also helpful in assessing causes of pelvic pain, detecting masses, and evaluating the spread of disease (staging of cancer).
The procedure is quick, non-invasive, and provides high-resolution images that aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
The purpose of CT Pelvis Scan is to evaluate the pelvic region in detail.
It helps to:
- Detect fractures or injuries to pelvic bones
- Identify tumors or abnormal growths
- Evaluate pelvic organs and soft tissues
- Detect infections or inflammatory conditions
- Assess causes of pelvic pain
- Evaluate spread of cancer (metastasis)
