CT - Urogram
CT – Urogram is a specialized imaging procedure that uses computed tomography (CT) along with contrast dye to obtain detailed images of the urinary tract, including the kidneys, ureters, and urinary bladder.
During the procedure, a contrast agent is injected into a vein, which helps highlight the urinary system structures and allows clear visualization of urine flow. Multiple phase images may be taken to assess kidney function, detect blockages, and evaluate structural abnormalities.
This test is highly effective in detecting kidney stones, tumors, infections, strictures (narrowing), congenital abnormalities, and causes of blood in urine (hematuria). It also helps in evaluating urinary tract obstruction and assessing overall kidney health.
CT Urogram provides high-resolution cross-sectional and 3D images, making it a valuable tool for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
This test is recommended for individuals with symptoms related to the urinary system.
It is advised in the following cases:
- Blood in urine (hematuria)
- Flank pain or lower abdominal pain
- Suspected kidney stones
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Suspected urinary tract obstruction
- Abnormal findings on ultrasound or other tests
- Follow-up evaluation of known urinary conditions
