MRI - MRCP
MRI – MRCP (Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography) is a specialized MRI technique used to visualize the biliary and pancreatic ductal systems in detail. It uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce high-resolution images of the bile ducts, gallbladder, liver, and pancreatic duct without the need for invasive procedures or contrast injection.
This scan is highly effective in diagnosing conditions such as gallstones, bile duct obstruction, strictures, tumors, pancreatitis, and congenital abnormalities of the biliary tree. It is often recommended as a safer alternative to invasive procedures like ERCP when diagnostic evaluation is required.
MRI MRCP provides clear and detailed images, helping doctors accurately identify the cause of symptoms such as abdominal pain, jaundice, or abnormal liver function tests. The procedure is safe, painless, and does not involve radiation.
The purpose of this MRI – MRCP test is to:
- Evaluate bile ducts and pancreatic duct
