X-ray - IVP
The X-ray – IVP (Intravenous Pyelogram) is a specialized diagnostic imaging procedure used to visualize the urinary tract, including the kidneys, ureters, and bladder. This test involves the injection of a contrast dye into a vein, which is then filtered by the kidneys and passes through the urinary system, allowing clear imaging on X-rays.
As the contrast moves through the urinary tract, a series of X-ray images are taken at specific intervals to assess the structure and function of these organs. This helps in identifying abnormalities such as kidney stones, tumors, blockages, strictures, or congenital defects.
