DENGUE ANTIBODY IGM Test

The Dengue IgM Antibody test detects IgM antibodies produced by the immune system in response to dengue virus infection. IgM antibodies generally develop after the early stage of infection and can remain detectable for a period after the infection.

The test is commonly used when dengue fever is suspected, particularly in individuals experiencing symptoms such as fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, or rash.

Because antibody levels change during the course of dengue infection, the timing of testing is important. Depending on the number of days since symptoms began, a healthcare provider may recommend other tests such as Dengue NS1 antigen or dengue PCR, along with a CBC and platelet count.

• Individuals requiring confirmation of a recent dengue infection, as advised by a healthcare provider
